March on Tally 2004 Wrap-UP

MarchersAfter a one hour delay, thousands of people from around the state marched up the parkway towards the capital. Personal guesstimate is about 3000 or so showed up on a couple of dozen buses from the southern part of the state and J-ville.

marchers2A small contingent of TNJPers, led by Tally's own mad librarian and political activist Tom Baxter was amongst the marchers. Co-sponsors of the MOT2004 event included the NAACP, SEIU, AFL-CIO, AFSCME. P.R.I.D.E., WMBD Radio, People For the American Way. Florida NOW, and many others.

marchers3Spirits were high as the marchers approched the capital chanting against the Bu$h brothers Stolen Election, against Jebthro's One Florida program that has eliminated affirmative action, against FCAT school testing which ten of thousands of grade school children have failed, and aginst the Iraq invasion and occuption among the many issues of the day.

PantsonFire.netThe PantsOnFire.net trailer was on hand to help get out the message about our Resident's problem with the truth. As part of a nationwide tour it is currently in Tallahassee until March 10th, so if you happen to see it driving by let out a holler or or toot your horn. The national publicity effort to help raise awareness and expose Bu$h's lies was started by Ben Cohen of Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream fame.

Big Brother Watching March on Tally 2004

ontheroof3Mammoth police presence in expectation of a 20,000+ turn-out. Hundred's of TPD city cops and LCSO sheriff's deputies on foot, on bicycles, on motorcycles, in cop cars, in golf carts, on the roofs, and in the 'copter in the sky. Among a group of not-so-under-cover types, one confirmed the tactical squad (SWAT) was on full alert and expressed some disappointment with the aprox. 3000 person turn-out as they were anticipating more...

marchers4The massive show of force did nothing to curb enthusiasm as thousands marched up Appalachee Parkway torward the capital chanting "Bush has to go!" and several other slogans.
