TNJP

The Tallahassee Network for Peace and Justice came together in the wake of the terrorist bombings of September 11, 2001. We are a developing coalition of Tallahassee individuals and groups who stand for a measured response that will seek out and punish only those who are responsible for the terrorist crimes committed on Sept. 11, 2001; who stand together against discrimination on the basis of race or religion; and who stand together for the protection of democratic rights. (For more information on these unifying points, see "About TNJP.")

April Peace Rally in Tally

Saturday, 19 April 2003
Time 09:30 AM-01:00 PM

Join us in the park on a warm Saturday in April 19 for a spring celebration of justice and peace. The rally will be held at Bloxham Park, Park Avenue and Monroe Street, from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. After the rally we will march (chanting, singing) to the Old Capitol or maybe to Jeb's mansion.

We welcome all singers, dancers, drummers, guitarists, and other musicians; poets, writers, and artists; actresses and actors; jugglers and puppeteers. Teachers, students, legal experts, and lovers of the U.S. Constitution (as originally written, not the Bush version), Bill of Rights, and Declaration of Independence: stand up for peace. Nurses, social workers, and other health care providers (traditional and alternative): bring your healing words. Spiritual people of all faiths and others who care about the fate of the earth: come raise your voices for peace.

Drumming, chanting, and recorded music will begin at 9:30 a.m. Speakers and musicians, please plan to perform between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. If you would like to play, sing, or speak (read a poem, an article, or a short speech for 5 minutes or less), please call Kristin King at (850) 425-4658 (h), or e-mail her at luz_antigua@hotmail.com

Sponsors: Tallahassee Network for Justice and Peace, Veterans for Peace, Pax Christi, and Tallahassee Green Party.
Location Bloxham Park, corner of Park Avenue and Monroe Street, Tallahassee, Florida

Directions DRIVING DIRECTIONS
The witness will be in Bloxhan Park, at the corner of Park Avenue and Monroe Street in uptown Tallahassee. Nobody knows where Bloxham Park is. So if you get lost ask how to get to Park and Monroe, downtown Tallahassee.

Speeding laws are strictly enforced in Leon county.

Coming from the East on I-10 you have several options

Option 1
If you take the US 90 East exit, which is what I would do if I was coming into downtown from the East, US 90 will change into Mahan Drive and then to Tennessee Street. You wouldn't know the difference, if someone didn't tell you. ~5 miles after you leave I-10 you'll come to Capital Circle AKA US 319. Five miles straight ahead, after you cross US 319, you'll be at Monroe Street, AKA US 27. Turn left and South on Monroe. One block South of Tennessee is Call St, one block South of Call is PARK AVENUE!!! Bloxham Park will be on the left and East. Find yourself a parking spot and walk.

Option 2
Taking the next exit, the Thomasville Road exit AKA US 319/ State Road 61. As you come off the I-10 Turn left and South onto Thomasville Road S.R. 61. Five miles later where Thomasville road ends, turn left onto Monroe AKA US 27. 10 blocks South on Monroe will be PARK Avenue !!! Bloxham Park will be on the left and East. Find yourself a parking spot and walk.

From the West on I-10.
Coming from the West take the US27/Monroe Street exit, South. 5 miles South of I-10 you'll be at Tennessee Street AKA US-90. One block South of Tennessee/US-90 is Call St, one block South of Call is PARK AVENUE!!! Bloxham Park will be on the left and East. Find yourself a parking spot and walk.

From the South on US 19 AKA US 27.
In Tallahassee, this road is known as Apalachee Parkway, named for the original inhabitants our forefathers exterminated. But anyway, follow 27/19 and turn right and North when you get to the Capitol onto our Monroe Street. Four blocks North of Apalachee Parkway is PARK Ave!!! Bloxham Park will be on the right and East. Find yourself a parking spot and walk.
