Tallahassee Takes a Stand

Tuesday evening Aug. 28th the Tallahassee area took a stand. Sixty-five plus people came out to rally in front of the Old Capital at the corner of N. Monroe and Appalachee Parkway as part of the MoveOn.org Coalition's National Take A Stand Day [1] to send a message to Congress that it's time to end the Iraq Occupation and BRING THE TROOPS HOME! Over seven hundred rallies and town-halls occurred nationwide as part of the action.

It was a very spirited and vocal demonstration of the public disgust with the ongoing slaughter in Iraq. Car horns were blaring in approval of the action almost non-stop for two hours.

Pics on the flip....

Unfortunately, the local corporate mediawhores deigned not to show up to cover the event even though they received multiple press releases in advance (Tally democrat, TV and radio stations). The only local "press" to show was a photographer from FSU's View. A TV camera crew from Channel 7 (Panama City?) also made an appearance across the street to record the raucous goings-on.

Makes one wonder if a public demonstration of political dissent occurs and the corporate media censors the event, did it really happen?

For the sixty-five plus who showed up and the hundreds and hundreds of passing motorists, it definitely was a happening!

Things did get a little silly...

Very silly...
