170 Organizations Request Special Prosecutor for Bush-Cheney

A movement is building around a simple statement at http://prosecutebushcheney.org

Organizations and individuals are signing on, and 170 organizations have already taken the lead.

Next week United for Peace and Justice will ask its 1,400 member groups to consider signing on.

Most of the 170 national and local groups signed onto this movement before the release of seven Justice Department memos from 2001-2002 in which top officials claimed the right to disregard the Fourth Amendment, Habeas Corpus, and Posse Comitatus:
http://afterdowningstreet.org/node/40420

Most of these groups signed on before learning that the CIA had destroyed 92, not 2, "interrogation" tapes:
http://afterdowningstreet.org/node/40360

Most of these groups signed on before the release of Emails in which we discover that British intelligence thought the Iraq weapons claims were laughably dishonest: http://afterdowningstreet.org/node/40684

Most signed on prior to the United Nations declaring rendition illegal:

It Was Oil, All Along
June 28, 2008
By Bill Moyers and Michael Winship

Oh, no, they told us, Iraq isn't a war about oil. That's cynical and simplistic, they said. It's about terror and al Qaeda and toppling a dictator and spreading democracy and protecting ourselves from weapons of mass destruction. But one by one, these concocted rationales went up in smoke, fire, and ashes. And now the bottom line turns out to be....the bottom line. It is about oil.

Submitted By James Marc Leas

Resolution on Impeachment of Bush and Cheney

Whereas George W. Bush and Richard B. Cheney:

1. deliberately misled the nation and doctored intelligence, as described in the Downing Street minutes, about the threat from Iraq in order to justify a war of aggression and an occupation of Iraq, as further described in House resolution H.Res. 333 and as listed in House Resolution H. Res. 635.

2. committed crimes against peace by initiating war against Iraq in violation of the UN Charter;

3. committed crimes against humanity in their conduct of the occupation of Iraq in which they killed hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians and created millions of refugees;....

SEPTEMBER 15: 100,000 MARCH FOR IMPEACHMENT, AGAINST THE WAR
Keep the pressure on! Write a letter to Congress demanding impeachment!

On Saturday, nearly 100,000 people from all walks of life, young and old, of all nationalities and creeds, marched together, united by a single purpose, determined to end the war. The impeachment movement was a huge part of this demonstration and the call for impeachment resounded from the White House to the Capitol. People took buses, trains, vans, and planes from all over the country to make it to Washington DC for the March, and it was reflected in the massive turnout.

The protest included one of the anti-war movement's largest collective acts of civil disobedience. Around 5,000 people laid down in mass as part of a dramatic die-in at the foot of the Capitol steps to symbolize all those lives that have been lost in this destructive war. Another two hundred were arrested when they tried to take an anti-war message to the Congress and were stopped by riot police...

I've commented previously that WE ARE NEVER LEAVING IRAQ!

Bush envisions U.S. presence in Iraq like S.Korea
WASHINGTON, May 30 (Reuters) - pResident George W. Bush would like to see a lengthy U.S. troop presence in Iraq like the one in South Korea to provide stability but not in a frontline combat role, the WH said on Wednesday. The United States has had thousands of U.S. troops in South Korea to guard against a North Korean invasion for 50 years...

This proclamation by the CrippledChimp is SO WRONG. First, S. Korea ain't exactly the model occupation to be yearnin' after. FIFTY YEARS! Thirty-five of which S. Korea saw a military dictatorship...

IDEAS CAN NOT BE KILLED By Fidel Castro - I am not the first person whose death George Bush has anticipated, nor will I be the last.
0530/07 “The Guardian”—-- A few days ago, while analysing the expenses involved in the construction of three submarines of the Astute series, I said that with this money “75,000 doctors could be trained to look after 150 million people, assuming that the cost of training a doctor would be one-third of what it costs in the United States.” Now, along the lines of the same calculations, I wonder: how many doctors could be graduated with the one hundred billion dollars that Bush gets his hands on in just one year to keep on sowing grief in Iraqi and American homes...

Bush could double force by Christmas by Stewart M. Powell Tuesday, May 22, 2007
(05-22) 04:00 PDT Washington -- The Bush administration is quietly on track to nearly double the number of combat troops in Iraq this year, an analysis of Pentagon deployment orders showed Monday.

The little-noticed second surge, designed to reinforce U.S. troops in Iraq, is being executed by sending more combat brigades and extending tours of duty for troops already there.

13 State Democratic Parties Demand Impeachment
Sun, 2007-05-20 By David Swanson
It took 13 colonies to throw out the last King George. Thirteen state Democratic parties have now passed resolutions demanding impeachment, nine of them since Nancy Pelosi ordered the Democratic Party away from impeachment.

In May 2004, the Nevada Democratic Party led the way, passing a resolution demanding Bush's impeachment...
